I guess I'm having a bit of spring/summer fever. It's so blah outside. I was watching tv last night with dh and a target commercial came on. And it showed the cutest suit. Green and it looked like a bikini from the back but connected in the front. A Monokini. Now this is something I may try out. I love a bikini but frankly my stomach does not. It's not the worst look but I have that stretched out bumpy tummy skin (don't most of us after kids?). So rather than hate it I think if I embrace it and get a suit that still looks sexy but hides just the bit I may be pleased. What do you think of this look? Am I kidding myself into thinking that that that little strap of fabric will cover what I would like? Be honest..is it ridiculous to even consider?

These are my favorites:

Oh and I didn't like the green suit once I looked at it online. lol

OK, I think you should go for the monokini thing. Absolutely.

And. . .you've just reminded me I'll have to get a new one {sigh}. I've gone from a size 12 to a size 6. I have no bathing suits smaller than a stretched-out 8.

Want to shop for me? Find me something flattering? Maybe nursing friendly? I have wrinkly saggy tummy skin, and I'm not thrilled with my thighs as they have unsightly stretch marks all over the place, but I wouldn't absolutely dismiss a suit if it showed thigh. Otherwise I have nice legs, even if they are on the short side. My arms are fine, my chest is fine right now due to the nursing (otherwise, very, very flat LOL).

Got any recommendations for me?

Sorry to make it all about me LOL! But I DID say I think you should do the monokini. I like the striped one (NOT for me LOL for you).

I have to say an nice v-neck black suit with maybe a little detail at the bottom of the v and a soroung would look STUNNING on you!

Of course if you never go to the pool or beach, then you would just look silly. :p

LOL I haven't had a bathing suit since I was 10 :gross:

And I tend to avoid places where swimsuits are appropriate attire :jester:

But I would never spend that much on a swimsuit!

This is fabulous!

Both are so cute. I love the retro look. :)

I have a suit in great shape so I don't know why I'm even considerig it. I guess I'm just bored. I may just buy the tankini top to go with my bottoms. I got a great suit at Lands end last year. (the official yapps suit, lol)

Yeah...that would be my concern too. I'm sure I'd put it on and take it off very quickly. lol

Well target did have some very cute suits. Kinda trendy though (I guess that's what the monokini is). I do have a good one that i got last year at Lands end. I love it but I want some variety. Hobestly since i have a "good quality" suit the one from target would just be for fun. If I was looking for a great suit I'd look at Lands end.

HSN had some really cute modest and covering suits on last night. You might be able to find them still on the website.

I have to get a new suit this year. I've lost so much weight there's no way my old one will fit.

oh yeah, that suit IMO will accentuate any problems - you've got to be pretty darned buff to carry that off - in fact not just buff but pretty "skinny" ...I shiver imagining it on myself. GAH!

I couldn't pull off that one, but I do have some new ones for this year. I always get them on clearance at the end of the summer.

I have 2 tankinis, one is peach with a brown floral pattern, the other is solid purple (no pics of those)

And I just got this one from Lands End overstocks-
my new swimsuit :) (http://www.landsend.com/pp/VirginiaLeafBandeauSlenderSwimsuit~166022_-1.html?bcc=y&action=order_more&sku_0=::MLT&CM_MERCH=SRCH_00002_0000000083_0000000134&origin=search)

It sure hides my poochie tummy!

I go through 2-3 suits a year and always get them at thriftstores. The girls have about 5 suits each and they all came from ThriftTown also. I really like tankinis; when I'm snorkeling I just flip up the tummy-covering part and get some sun on the flab.

I haven't bought a new suit in 2 or 3 years. But I've put on some weight and I feel disgusting and muffin-toppy in what I now own. So I'll go to the surf shop in a month or so and get some new board shorts and tank tops with a generous bikini underneath that NO ONE but DH will see me in. LOL

I love swimsuits and own wayyyyy too many of them. Plus, I go to work in a swimsuit so I can't really get away from wearing them, LOL. I don't care for the monokini look all that much. I'd probably go for a tankini if you're looking for tummy coverage. I got a cute one last year that's all strings in the back but long in the front, with butterfly appliques. Me and my collection, LOL....

I ordered from here (http://www.boardshortsworld.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=133) and I was really happy. You choose a length first and then a fabric—and they have a gazillion fabrics. They do run a little small but they say so right on their size chart.

I wore the shorts with a plain tank suit from Lands' End.

Mine is similar in shape and it really makes the waist more defined (I mean that in a good way :embarass: ).

Yes, I have to get a new swimsuit this year because my other two are both worn out.

Waaaah...

I really like Lands' End suits but I have no need to cover up my entire chest. If I'm going to be IN the sun I don't want to risk swimsuit lines that will mean that if I wear a normal tank top shirt then white will show! So maybe something like this cute halter-style top (http://www.landsend.com/pp/SolidBeachLivingShirredFrontHalterSwimTop~180885_5 93.html)would be good (not in the bright blue, though!).
