I bought sugar in the pre-measured packets to use at work so that I'm not tempted to add too much to my coffee. I'm only using 1 teaspoon per cup and once I get used to that I will work on the 1/2 & 1/2 situation.
I resisted snacking in the evening, except one night, by brushing my teeth right after dinner. I have also been drinking water in the evening because I think I am confusing thirst and hunger. The one exception was for 2 cookies from a batch that Sophia made.
I walked every day at lunch time, and I did a stretching routine 2x during the week.

That's not slowly but surely...that's amazing!! You exercised every day!

Well, every day is way more impressive after a month than 3 days ;-)
They do have a childcare room, It's pretty cool, and they've got video games and such for bigger kids. She's adamant that she can stay home and I told her I'd consider it. She's not allowed to play racquetball or anything til she's 13.

Thanks you guys. That last 1/4 of a mile almost killed me this morning. I'm beat and it's not that far at all. I was hoping I'd be able to add 1/4 of a mile every day and stay (close to) the same time, I'm begining to think that won't happen at all! :jester: I don't know if I should try to add speed or distance first. :dunno:

Today I did 2.75 miles in 55 min. I'm hoping to get to 3.25 by Friday.

Oooh, I wish they had things for bigger kids at my gym! Maia *hates* going there, so I very rarely go during the day.
I have let Maia stay home alone for small amounts of time starting a few months ago and she does great with it. Forest is *pissed* that he can't be home as well, but c'est la vie! LOL!

Yeah, I feel way more comfortable letting her stay home here than I would have in Tx. :dunno: (duh, just realized it's cause we have a HOME phone here instead of just cells. She can CALL!) We've been going super early most days and she sleeps through it.

LOL at your realization! Yeah...Maia likes to call my cell from the home phone. She's taken to doing it even when she's home with Marc and Forest and I'm out with friends or at work. :-P
I don't do *anything* really early so my kids are always awake when i want to go to the gym. :-)

LOL We were home by 6am! We get up at 4, get dressed, feed and walk the dogs, and get to the gym around 4:45. We HAVE to be home by 6 so that 1) I can get Reya up for school (starts in 2 weeks!) and 2) get L to work.

I would be so badly off if there was someone in addition to myself talking me out of the gym. I do a great job of it alone.

Skipping weekends isn't a bad thing, IMO/IME. I think it gives you the mental & physical break you need to recharge & get back at it during the week. Especially since you are doing ~so~ much when you are working out - plus getting up super early on top of that!
I think you are doing awesome, Amanda! :yay:

There's been quite a bit of emotional turmoil in my life lately. I've only been to the gym twice this week, but today I did 50 min on the elliptical and 45 on Monday. Hopefully, I'll make it tomorrow and Saturday to make up for the missing days this week.

That's great that you are doing so long on the elliptical! I found that it kicked my butt in the beginning (hard to get to 5minutes! LOL!) but that once I got using it I could do longer too.
I need to ramp my exercise back up, too. (only was at the gym doing elliptical type machine for 52min on Sat and then BodyPump on Sunday--nothing since then!)

You're doing great, and even if the weight doesn't come off right away it's so good for your body to exercise like this.

Ha! I know the feeling. How are you doing with eating? I've found in the past that often I do really well with exercising OR really well with eating, but had trouble doing both at the same time.

Pretty good when I remember to eat. I just desperately need my thyroid meds, I'm seriously considering going to the ER and trying there. I can't get into the sliding scale clinic til October, and I'm not functioning well. :-(

I think I will. I'm so exhausted. I took a 4 hour nap and I'm still so sleepy. (and I went to bed ontime last night.) My hair is noticably thinner too.
