I am 5'7" (really 5'6.5" but I am giving myself the other 1/2 inch :-P! I weight 166 pounds and I fit in a 10 in pants and dresses comfortably (some are a little big) and 8's are on the tight size. I wear a 38D and a large shirt.

I am very confused because there are people who are clearly skinnier than me (I know their height and weight) and are only 1 size smaller. :dunno:

I'm 5'1", 127 pounds. The tags on my clothes range from size 4 (Old Navy and Northern Reflections) to size 8 (anywhere else). I have some 10s that are tight and some 6s that are loose. My bust is 34 A, so I'm kinda not big anywhere but my hips and tummy.

I am 5'6", 175 pounds, give or take 5. I wear a size 10 pants and a 10-12 in a dress. I weigh a lot for my height, but am fit and my clothes fit nicely and I am a nice shape. It's really hard for me not to get hung up on the number, though.

Edited to add, I have a larger bust (34 E-F), but my bra measurement has a large cup size since my ribcage is small. I don't typically find myself having to wear a size larger for my chest.

I'm 5'2". I'm about 145. I tend to wear a size 12 on the bottom, because I have generous hips, belly, and butt. I wear a 32G cup. Teeny ribcage, teeny shoulders. I'm a medium, sometimes a small on top. Dresses range from 8-12, depending on the fit. I haven't been smaller than an 8 since puberty.

I am 5'8" and I weigh 145 lbs. I wear mostly 8's and 10's for bottoms, but can wear a size 6 in some brands. When I weigh 135 (my current goal) I wear size 6 or 8 in pants. I am nearly always a size small in tops, but will often choose a medium or large to get some extra length in the torso.

I have a smaller bust than you, either a 34 or 36B - I've never been measured and I have bras in both sizes that fit well.

I have very curvy hips - my hip bones are very widely spaced and I look like a cartoon pinup girl from the 50's from the waist down, LOL. Even when I've been in the low 120's I still wear a size 6 (very rarely a size 4) because no matter how much weight I lose I can't shrink those hip bones! :-P

My guess is that since you carry more weight in your bust, you can weigh more than other people and still wear a smaller size in pants because your measurements on the bottom half are smaller than somebody who carries their weight in their hips/belly/legs. (Lucky! :-))

I'm 5'9", about 150 lbs, I'm usually a size 8 on bottom (sometimes a 10, very rarely a 6). On top I'm am 8 or M but sometimes things are cut too small/narrow for my top half and wear a L. I'm a 34 D.

5'6", 130 lbs, small chested (lol).

I wear a 6 or a small. Mostly my clothes are from Goodwill of better brands. I do have a couple pair of size 8 jeans for comfort. Tops I can go up to a large, especially in sweaters :dunno:

I used to be able to get into a size 4 in the super expensive (designer) stuff, but I cannot squeeze my post-baby hips into those little things anymore.

I quit looking at sizes, especially since buying at Goodwill sizing seems off to begin with. If it looks like it might fit I try it on, lol.

I wear anywhere from a 6-10 in pants and a M/L in tops. My dress size is a 10 or 12.
I have a "retired athlete's" body. OK it's not retired it's been neglected LOL. Anyway I have broad shoulders and a wide back (ribs) with big but not flabby upper arms. I can NEVER zip anything up the back unless I go up in size and then it doesn't fit my much smaller lower body.
I have some tummy bulge but narrow hips and slim legs. I wear a 36A bra.
I have a very hard to dress body but when I get it right I'm happy with it.

I'm 5'7" and I weigh about 170 lbs. I wear a size 14 usually.

It's really interesting to see that people about my weight wear smaller sizes--I guess that has to do with where you carry your weight? I carry most mine in the waist and hips.

Heh. Sizes are funny, aren't they? I'm somewhere between 5'5" and 5'6", down to 134 pounds, and about a size 10 now. I can still wear the 12s I was wearing before—they're loose in the waist but they fit fine in the hips, which is where I'm broad. Size 8 is only a fantasy. I wear a 34C and a medium or large shirt.

I'm a half inch under 5' and weigh about 115. I wear anywhere from a 2 to a 6/8 depending on the maker for pants. Smalls for tops. I have no idea what size bra I wear because I just do cami tanks. I wish my boobs were smaller, though.

I'm 5"4" and weigh 126 lbs. I am short-waisted and small-busted (34B). Defined waist and fairly flat belly. Comparatively broad through the hips and solid through the thighs, but very slim from just above the knee down. Once when I was changing in a locker room, an elderly woman told me I looked like Venus de Milo. :embarass:

I always wear a small (4-6), sometimes XS, in tops and usually a 6, sometimes an 8, in pants. Can sometimes wear a 4 in an a-line skirt, but never if it is fitted through hips/thighs. I usually have to alter my dressy pants and skirts to fit in the waist. I often have trouble finding a dress that fits me on the bottom without being too big on the top.

BTW, these are the same sizes I wore when I weighed 10 pounds less years ago; sizes have changed for sure.

Yes -- when I was 110, I was wearing size 6. Now, over 125, most of my clothes are a 6.

I'm 5'3", about 130 lbs. (which is 10 more than I want to be really), and I wear usually a 4 or 6. I was just shocked last week when I had to buy a new bra and had gone up both a band size AND a cup size, so I'm now a 36D. I've recently had to buy a size large in a couple tops and dresses to accommodate the boob growth. :p

I'm 5-5 1/2 and am currently in the 160-165 range and am wearing a 10 in pants, medium or large in shirts (32-34DD), dresses are mediums. I was in the 145-150 range last summer and wore a size 8 in pants and sometimes even a 6, medium in shirts and medium in dresses. Women's jeans don't fit me very well so I wear junior sizes and the pair I have that fit are size 9.

My girls had me measure them not too long ago and while Amye is only about an inch or so smaller around in the waist and hips, she wears a size 3 or 5 while Auna wears a size 9 and might possibly be able to fit into a 7. Their measurements are close but their body types are completely different.

I'm a little over 5'2" (I used to be a little under 5'3" but I'm shrinking) and my weight fluctuates a lot but right now it's about 127. I'm a size 6, sometimes a size 4 (in vanity sizing I'm a 4), thick waist, small hips, 34DDD (though I'll wear a 36DD if I have to because they're easier to find). I swear, I'm just misshapen. I can't buy dresses period or tops that don't stretch.

I'm between sizes, and (thankfully) continuing to shrink, but my present stats are:

5'3", 163 pounds. This is more or less a 12, but things are getting pretty loose. I have a pair of size 14 capri cargo jeans that I love, but I'm gonna have to give them up soon, they are ridiculously sloppy. I am thick waisted with trim hips, porportionately, no matter what my weight/size (ie, that's just my innate figure) . . . consequently, I could probably call most of me a definite 10 now, but I'd never get anything that size buttoned around my waist yet.

At your size, I usually am weighing around 150. I got as low as 140 two summers ago, and could wear a couple things in size 6, if they were cut so as to be generous/loose about the waist.

Clearly I have bones made of solid gold, or something LOL.

When I am heavier - a size 14 (or, ahem, finding my 14's tight . . . I was this past winter, I was pushing 200 pounds, my heaviest ever, after six months of fluid in my lungs, resulting inactivity, and steroids to treat :sob:) . . . nobody ever believes I am as heavy as I am. Frankly, it's a bit of a handicap to me in terms of keeping a realistic idea of what is a healthy weight for me. It's *very* easy for me to go, "Meh, 20 pounds more, who cares, I still look fine . . . " I think I kind of hide weight on my back, and am also pretty muscley (even out of shape) for a woman - and that sort of underlying athletic build hides extra weight. As I said, in the end, this is not really a blessing to me  LOL.

I haven't see 120-anything since I was 11 - but I hit puberty early, and stopped growing (taller) at 10!

Kathy

I'm 5-1, weigh 153 as of this morning, and wear a 10/12, though the 12s are getting loose. I tend to wear a M or L on top since I have a larger chest (36D or 34DD, depending on the bra and my mood), and have wider hips. I'm like Mandi as well - I hide my weight really well, most people would never guess I'm at whatever weight I actually am, and I'm pretty muscley all over.

I'm quite a bit less than I was when I was married (I was somewhere over 185, and a size 16), though I've been down to 125 since having the boys and was a size 6 (and occasionally a size 4, depending on the clothes). I function best at around that size - I have way more energy and strength, I don't have parts that rub, and I don't get so hot in the summertime. So that's my goal.

I'm more and more convinced we lead parallel lives on different continents

Except...
I wear 16 pants only because I love baggies. I'm sure I could wear them smaller but I'm not comfortable.

And I have a 34H bust. 30 more pounds and I get approval for a reduction.

Buying clothing is a pain for me. I can only wear petites. My bust is way too big such that by the time it fits around my bust the rest of the shirt is way too big. I also have an incredibly short rise. I don't know exactly what size I wear. It all depends on the style of clothing, the brand, and most everything I own has been altered in some way.

I have a hard time finding 2's. It would be easy if I went to the mall or the dept stores, but I'm too cheap so I buy 3's from the Jr's dept sometimes. :embarass: I don't measure my waist because it changes too drastically with bloat. My hips are 36" and I wear a 34D bra.

I'm 5'4, 162lbs as of last night :yay:, mostly size 10 pants (I have one 12 that I still wear), M or L tops depending on style. (edited to say that I just bought a pajama top at La Senza yesterday, and only the XL fit. Weird, since the bottoms I bought were a L. I'm a lot bigger on bottom! Sizes are so variable.)
34F bra.

I carry most of my weight in my boobs, butt, hips and thighs. I have a relatively small waist. (hourglass shaped)

My top weight was 240lbs and about a size 22 or more for pants, and 2XL tops.

nobody ever believes I am as heavy as I am.

This is me too. I've even had clothing salespeople argue with me about what size I am—I had to buy a dress for a wedding a few months ago and the girl at Nordy's kept getting me 10s and going "are you sure?" even though I told her repeatedly that I was a 12. And now that I have lost weight, people don't believe I wear a size 10—they think I must be an 8 or smaller. But I haven't been able to squeeze into an 8 since before I was married.

Heck, even in my teens, my BF at the time once bought me a leather miniskirt for Christmas (ah, 1987!) in a size too small because he thought I looked that size—and he had asked me ahead of time what size to buy and I had told him! He was shocked that I could not fit into it.

I don't care about the number; I just want clothes that fit. But people are always surprised to hear how much I weigh and what size I wear. :dunno:

I'm 5'2", approaching 20 weeks pregnant, and probably will be 130 or around there when I go to my appointment next week. (We don't have a scale in the house). I'm in mediums from Motherhood for tops and dresses but the only bottoms I'm wearing are ones I've made or regular pants, unzipped and tied with a drawstring (with a long shirt on top). The old navy size small maternity pants I bought had unbearably tight underbelly waistbands and I returned them.

When I'm not pregnant I'm around 118-120 lbs and wear size 6 on the bottom. I think some 4s would probably fit but I like them a little loose. I wear mediums on top and they are a little too tight in the bust for the first year-18 months when I'm nursing. My youngest was weaned for a while before I got pregnant and my 34D bras were a little bit too big but I didn't buy a smaller size, just got pregnant instead. I'm in 36D bras now and don't know where I'll end up (I've only been wearing bras that really fit pretty well for a year or so). I've had people in the past surprised that I weigh as much as I do :dunno:, there was a thin receptionist at a job I had and she weighed 105 or so and thought I looked the same weight as her.

I'm 5'8, 168 lbs at the moment, and my tight 16 jeans are starting to get loose, the bigger, but still size 16 jeans got too loose a month or so ago. I've got some shorts in nicer brands that are 14s and are starting to get a tad loose. I can still wear my 18 dresses, but could probably wear down to a 14 or so, depending on the cut. The least I've weighed as an adult was 135, right after Rachel was born, and I could just wear size 10 dresses, but still at least 12 in pants. Six months ago when I was at 210 I was wearing size 18 jeans. I'm very curvy, with a relatively small waist and big hips and bust, and a long waist and high rise. I have to get certain brands of jeans or else they gap at the back of the waist and cut in the crotch. I would be delighted if I get down to a size 12, and really be content with 14 for pants - I think to get down to a 10 would be lower than is healthy for me.

I used to just count down the pounds I lost with out putting the starting weight. And even as it is I still have a hard time telling people IRL how much I really weight (DH doesn't even know)

But I think being able to finally say it has helped me go down the "path" toward actually continuing, Instead of losing 5 gaining it back, losing 2 gaining it back.

I hope you can really feel comfortable one day. ((((ST))))

5-5 1/2, 160, size 12 or 14 in bottoms, XL on top. I have most of my weight between my hips and my shoulders, which is annoying because it's really hard to find pants that are flattering. To fit the waist they have to be floppy in the hips.

Rearlly low-waisted pants work better but they're hard to find in work clothes.

I'm 5'5.5", pre-pregnancy I was 145lbs. I wear a 34DD bra normally, so normally size medium tops, or an 8-10 if it's something with buttons down the front. I have HUGE hips, so I was wearing 10-12s in pants. Hard to find pants that fit my waist/hips.

at 34 weeks pregnant, I'm up to 165lbs, and starting to outgrow my size medium maternity tops, and outgrew some of the bottoms a month or so ago.

I think what's the most frustrating with the inconsistency in manufacturers and sizing is there's the inconsistency. Are the european metric sizes consistent always? Why can't there be a sizing standard here in this country that isn't determined by random number, but actual measurement?

Yeah, that would be great. Like DH's pants an 30x30 means 30 inch waist 30 inch inseam, easy!

I don't think size matter really unless you aren't trying things on. Or you are trying to give some one your most favorite pair of capris, because you are sure they are that size, but they are not. It all just seems so random. And this thread is even more proof to my mind it is.

I should mention, I don't get happy or sad about the number on my pants, LOL! If I did, would would be happy all the time, because I would just shop at Old Navy. LOL!!

Some 12's are too small, some 14's fit okay, if loose. I wear a L to XL top - 36D bra size.

My hips still allow for my size 12's but they are getting too tight in the belly. :-)
Before Lincoln I was between 127 and 130 and wore an 8. I couldn't get any smaller size because of my thighs. I would have liked to weigh less prior to getting pregnant, but thankfully I haven't gained nearly as fast as I did with L.

I love it, too! Awesome picture. The colour around your face is so flattering!

LOL! It does if you don't want to go to the store and TRY things on. LOL!!

I know, it really sucks for me because I HAVE to mail order all clothes, we can't buy them here. It's frustrating!!
