this is both "yuck, why would someone do that?" and fascinating:

http://www.bizarremag.com/weird_world/body_world/7173/zombie-boy.html

A man is interviewed who tatooed his entire body to look like the living dead.

His step in a few years is to tattoo the whites of his eyes black so they look like sockets.

I haven't looked at the article yet, but how exactly do you tattoo whites of eyes? Wait, I don't think I want to know.:yuck::gross:

Ok, so it's not something I would do, but the artwork on him is tremendous. Wow.

yeah, it is that! I was fascinated by how well a lot of it is done.

Yeah, I'm not sure either. I don't want to know either. We saw someone with this once, his whites were tattooed a orange-red... absolutely eerie-looking.

This was in the same bookstore (though months later) that there was a clerk who had HOLES bored into his skull (6, in line down the middle from front to back) where he then had a threaded bolt implanted. Then he would screw in horns or other ornaments to hang from his head.

I kid you not, I have never seen anything like it before or since.

I don't AT ALL get what he is doing, but the artwork is phenomenal (and apparently even more amazing in person), and he is apparently a really nice guy.

Part of me is really curious and wanting you to bring it on, and the other part makes me want to hurl. What is that saying?

I like my zombies pierced, smoking and preferably flashing gang signs!

and most of it sounded somewhat understandable...meaning if the person is creative and lives a lifestyle that supports that sort of modification, that is fine for them...I really don't care to see it in person though. Then I read the word "cock-splitting" and have to know...wtf is THAT???
I can't look it up on this computer at this time.

from reading the interview, he does seem like a nice guy. In fact, he says it changed him to become a much nicer guy.

I don't get it either. I've never had a desire to pierce or tattoo anything.

hmm, actually, I'm a liar, when I was a 17 year old I REALLY wanted to tattoo a great blue heron across my back and shoulders in flight (it was a grandma/totem animal thing), but never did.

Anyway... I might not 'get it', but I don't 'get it' for ME. It works for others, and that is great for them. I can appreciate it on that level.

Although I wouldn't want it myself, minus the eyes and nose I think he looks pretty cool. The art is great!

I haven't seen it done in person of course, but I saw a trial of 3 men trying different methods testing staying power etc.

The first was a standard tattoo gun. One was injecting the ink just under the first or second layer of tissue and the third was a handpoking method. All 3 held their ink, and none had long term issues (they only inked a small section of white) except for like bumps etc. They were followed by an opthamologist IIRC.

Honestly, that..to me, is taking body modification to a scary level. They have no idea what the long term affects are on the eyes, or what would happen in a longer ink session covering more of the eye. My vision is way too precious to screw with thanks.

keep in mind that the body mod community is VAST. You have those who have their nostril pierced and a couple of tattoos and it goes on and on and on into places you probably don't want to imagine. Nullification is probably at the far far extreme end and genital splitting etc is somewhere in the middle (and while still very extreme, subincisions etc are far more common than what we would think!).

Honestly, at that point, it is my opinion that there are some significant mental health issues going on.

For some reason I felt the need to google genital splitting. Attractive.

I know very little about tattoo work but that sure looks like more than 24 hours worth of work to me!

And it might be just me but I'm thinking that the outline of the state of Texas looks a bit out of place on his left arm. :)
