Honestly, I feel a little... not quite ashamed to be here, but certainly meek. I look at the AMAZING work that Jessica's done, that Peggy Anne and Vicky and Carolyn have done and are doing and I feel rather silly saying "I'd like to lose 10 pounds, 15 would be awesome." :embarass:

However. It turns out that 10 pounds doesn't just go away because you decide it should. Imagine that. :hmmm: Also, it turns out my scale is really, really wrong, and I actually started at about 5 pounds heavier than I was aware of. In order to fit my clothes I needed to lose about 15 pounds, and to reach my (perhaps a wee bit unrealistic) goal I'd like to lose 20, total.

For the last month I've been riding my bike at least five times a week, going for between five and twelve miles at a go. I've also been using the Wii Fit to track my body changes and to train on the days I don't ride for an hour. I generally take one day off a week of all conscious exercise. Due to gas and the nice weather, though, I'm riding my bike for errands or walking A LOT.

As for food, I've been doing WW points for just over a month now. (18-20 points a day. I'm only 5'1", and I currently weigh 129. I started this process at about 136, but thought I was at 130. Last year at this time I was 122, and that's what all my clothes fit.)

In six weeks I've lost a wee bit more than 7 pounds, which is 1) nice and slow and indicative that it will stay off if I keep up my activity level and 2) disappointing, as I'd assumed I'd lose the full 2 pounds a week and be down a whole 12 pounds by now. Silly me.

I still have 8 pounds to reach the goal, but will be happy with 5, I think. I just hope it doesn't take 5 weeks; I'd really like to wear my clothes to California. I can't afford a new wardrobe to look pretty around strangers. :bag:

Great run on the exercise, there, Sarah! And I tend to agree with you--it's nothing but good that it's taking a little while to come off because it does seem that the people who lose that way have better long-term results.

Yeah...(says she whose lost 10 lbs and hangin' there!).

Oh gosh, you and Margie are making me feel guilty. I too am in the "just 10 pounds" category and I have GAINED 3 pounds in the last month. So I am hereby, officially, taking you and Margie as my role models and getting my act together (says the girl who blew off exercising 3 out of 5 days this week and had fried chicken last night).

Congrats on being consistent with the exercise and those 7 pounds!

Congrats on being consistent with the exercise and those 7 pounds!Yeah, but I lost that 10 pounds a really long time ago--weeks! Maybe even a month!--LOL. I need to do better so I can lose a few more this year, for heaven's sake!

Edited to add, I just checked my ticker and I actually lost it over two months ago... but at I AM glad it's not back.

That iS GREAT that you have done so well. Honestly, I think that losing 7 pounds in a month is pretty darn good. The fact that you are doing it by making healthy lifestyle changes is even better. Good for you!:yay: Keep up the good work.

oh my...don't feel badly! Hey...10lbs from now when I only want to lose 10 more I will be where you are!
It's a LOT of work to drop pounds and get in shape. It really doesn't just happen on it's own. LOL!

You are doing SO WELL and that's fantastic about the regular exercise. That will be the key, I should think!

When you "only" want to drop a smaller amount of weight it would make sense to me that it would be slower. Think about how easy it is to gain only 10-15lbs? It can happen really quickly...if you want it to stay off longer than a few months, then slow and steady is exactly what you want to be doing!

Wow! Congratualtions on what you've done so far.

I agree with Carolyn. I think that last 5-10% to lose is probably the hardest to lose and keep off. I didn't bookmark the article, but Sparkspeople had one about maintaining weight loss (maybeyou can search for it) it was really interesting about what your bodies are doing toward the end or at the end of your goals.
