I don't miss how an edit I couldn't NOT make, would bump the thread as having new content.

Hey, now, that guy WILL be back! I briefly used him as an avatar but then deleted it, thinking that too much plague guy would ruin the joke.

WTH is a snipet?

Yes, I love that edits don't bump things anymore.
WTH is a snipet?
I'm so glad you asked. I don't have a clue, either.

In the old yaaps, whenever you replied to a post, it said something about how if you wanted to include a "snipet" from the post you were replying to, you should do something. (I forget how it was done, but it was like the "quote" feature here.)
They meant "snippet" but it was spelled wrong. It drove me crazy. I actually emailed Kerry to complain once and she said it drove her nuts too, but there was nothing they could do about it!

Whew! I'm glad someone remembers! Learning that not everyone was irritated by it, or even noticed it, was a strange discovery to me today!

Me, neither!! That drove me nuts every time I posted.
Learning that not everyone was irritated by it, or even noticed it, was a strange discovery to me today!I was surprised by that, too. Sometimes I forget that the rest of the world isn't as weirdly compulsive as I am. :p

Sometimes I forget that the rest of the world isn't as weirdly compulsive as I am. :pYou know, I have no idea where that even was...I have no recollection of ever seeing anything about snipets at all.
Is it possible, even vaguely, that there may have been words on a screen that didn't enter my consciousness at all?
I am aghast. Maybe I'm becoming senile or something.

I bet if you were hypnotized we would find it embedded in your subconscious.

Speaking of typos, could we possibly rename this guy*: :embarass: -- he's spelled wrong, and it's going to bug me for years. :p
*Not to be confused with Trey's Guy -- or Trey himself. Their names are perfectly fine.

Perhaps the misspelling is why the smiley is "embarassed"? :hmmm:

It had to do with posting plain text (i.e., not html, I think). It was right above the box in which you typed your post, and it said something like "Use this if you wish to post code snipets." Just typing it makes me cringe.... :p

you know, I had No idea what a snipet was in order to see the glaring typo, like a chopstick in my eye. Had I known, I think I would have been just as incensed and letter-writing as the next person. lol

In the Admin Control Panel, look what I found:
Snippet Length
This is the default length of the blog entry snippets shown on the user's main blog page and featured blog.
Spelled correctly! Imagine that! LOL :loveit:
