Okay, I know all I do lately is post links to things on YouTube, but this made me cry my EYES out (in a good/happy way) and DS liked it, so I thought I'd share.

I loved it. Wow.
And I doubly love it when I find these things are true! I, as habit, check factcheck.org or snopes for just about everything I read that sounds like it could be a story. On things like this (we called them 'faith-promoting stories' in church), if I find they are not true or a bit off the truth, I don't correct people. Myths and stories have their role and I have no desire to cut them down...
but this one is actually factually 100% true. http://www.snopes.com/photos/animals/christian.asp
how cool and amazing. Animals are more like us than we know.

That was pretty neat but am I the only one who thought it was kind of dumb to stand there with big grins as this supposedly wild beast came running at them? I mean it worked out for them but...I wouldn't have been surprised if the lion had attached. OTOH it looks like Christian and his pride are well fed. I wonder if the reception would have been the same had they found a ribby hungry Christian.

I thought that, too. However, I looked around at articles and other videos on this, and one of the videos shows one of the guys meeting Christian in a fenced in area. I can't help but wonder if that happened first and then they wandered around in the open and saw him, too. Takes some of the fun out of it, but still pretty incredible.

Oh ya..I thought they were a little insane to try it, but I couldn't help getting all teary when they hugged and loved and cried. It was a beautiful moment.
I was actually waiting for it to be a joke. I showed it to DH, and at the moment that they showed the lion coming down, and the smiles on the men's faces, and the music's dramatic pause, he (DH) started laughing and making his lion, growly, eating sounds, LOL! Same spot I was waiting for something crazy to happen (we have a bit of twisted humor over here!).

LOL! Yes, it certainly could have gone another way, couldn't it. Eek!

It reminds me of something I read once, trying to balance the "human like" things observed in wild animals once - it kind of cracked me up, but it does make a point - "Sure, we have great stories about dolphins rescuing swimmers who are too exhausted to make it back to shore . . . they float them along, and nudge them in the right direction, seeming to have a really deep understanding of human needs. However, there's a reason we only have those amazing stories . . . it's because nobody lost at sea says, "I was exhausted, and then a dolphin came along and do you know what? It drowned me!" (I paraphrase, but that was the gist of it.)
