So Mackenzie broke his arm today. We won't know until Monday's consult with the orthopedist what's going to happen with it. To me, on the X-ray it looked slightly telescoped - the bone is broken clear through just above the wrist and it looks like it's kinda telescoped over the rest of it just a bit. I don't know if that means traction and a set (not fun) or surgery, plates, screws, etc. (really not fun!). Keep the poor guy in your thoughts. He's so stoic, I really had a hard time reading how badly he was hurt. The other day, Asa slaps him on the back in a good-natured kind of way and you'd think she clubbed him with a bat or something the way he hollered. Today, he barely made a peep but he looked kind of clammy and pale, and he got real quiet and still.

Even better, yesterday in karate class I accidentally broke the nose of my BFF's teenage daughter. We were practicing a throw with partners and the guy next to me threw his partner at the same time as I threw her and they collided (his leg, her face). Ugh. She's going in for surgery to set it next week as well.

Nobody better tell me that these things run in threes!!! All good thoughts for the poor victims appreciated. Oh yeah, the reason Mackenzie broke his arm? He was dancing around and jumping for joy (literally) after DH told him he got him a cell phone today. He's been walking to the store by himself and stuff, so we thought it was time. Rite of passage and all that.

Oh, man - that's some collision of bad fracture-karma! Super fast healing to both of them.

Sounds like Mackenzie got more rites of passage than he was signed up for, LOL! Is this the first thing he's broken? (I rewrote that question seventeen different ways, trying not to imply he has more breaks coming LOL! That will have to do :embarass:.)

I am so sorry they both got hurt. So much can happen in a split second. I hope the treatment and recovery will go swiftly and well.

No running in threes'or third time is the charm, or three strikes either!

Ouch! Poor kid.

I hope he heals quickly. Make sure he eats lots of protein and calcium to make that bone grow fast!

Yeah they are. It's kind weird, isn't it! Also, the irony of my user name right now has not escaped me...
