I am looking for a few different things here. Some are for Leif's speech therapy, and some are to add to his collection that he loves (that can double as speech therapy stuff :))
First of all, the animal figurines. Frankly, I don't care if these are good quality dollar store or from animal toobs, or schleich (although if you have schleich that you are happily willing to part with at a good price, I am all over that!). The only real caveat is that they stand up on their own, actually look like the animal that they are supposed to be, and are small enough that a kid can somewhat put his hand around to slip through a sock and not show when he pulls it out. So probably 4" max..preferably smaller. I have SOME animals...but most of what I have is larger than the size I am looking for. I would also like a good variety. Farm, african, ocean, insects, jungle.
People figurines - I am specifically looking for the vintage fisher price plastic little people. I need a decent variety in both male and female.
papo - got some you want to get rid of? I am probably very interested :)
Older kid bath toys - Leif really really wants some bath toys that aren't for babies. Any ideas?
While I am at it, Raine is desperately in search of a really good deal on a Nintendo DS or DS lite. Is anyone parting with one for a decent price?

Well, I know I can't convince him to part with it, but C (11 yo) still loves his Playmobil pirate ship (a hand me down). Currently in the bath he plays with that, with some plain plastic cups, or this dumb piece of bark he brought inside to use as a boat.
My best idea other than the pirate ship is to have him make his own boats and test them in his baths. (C loves to do that.) Electrical tape works well for these kinds of boats if he needs to connect pieces together.
I can't help you on anything else--I don't even know what papo is!

Oh this reminded me, the boys just got some Playmobil boats for their birthdays, but they are smaller than the pirate ship. These are the coolest, with a motor that you can attach to them. We can't give them up either, but you could look into them, they weren't very expensive (especially the little jet ski).

Underwater Motor (http://store.playmobilusa.com/on/demandware.store/Sites-US-Site/en_US/Product-Show?pid=7350&cgid=)
And here is a list of everything that a motor can be used with, the motor does come with the larger police boat, IIRC. I know we didn't purchase a separate one.

they look like so much fun!
Rach, Leif totally makes the ships as well, but I hadn't thought of electrical tape! I will have to get him some of that! I have some ocean creatures that I buy from the dollar store, but they get so icky so fast, and really..getting him into the tub without something fun to play with is darn near impossible.

Would he shower instead? Sometimes C would rather shower than bathe.

I never thought I would still have a kid in the shower with me at *7*. Good lawd! It is the only way I can get his hair clean though. He likes bathing...just so long as it isn't booooooooooooooring *said in my most dramatic voice*

Music and audio cds are also helpful here. I just put the cd player outside the door and play it that way (because I am paranoid about having an electrical thing too near the water).
Playmobil has a submarine that's a lot of fun in the water, too. It has a little pump and you let the air out so the sub will sink and pump air in so it will rise. It also has that waterproof motor that Rebecca mentioned, so it toots around the tub, too.
Squirt toys are fun in the tub, too, if he will not squirt all over the room.

various shaoed funnels.
those sand toys with a funnel at the top and wheels underneath that when the sand goes through it spins the wheel - work for water, toohttp://www.amazon.com/Sand-Wheel-Double-Beach-Sandbox/dp/B000ICXOEO/ref=pd_sim_t_5
different kinds of boats. He could get a wooden boat kit and make his own, or make an origami one from newspaper and float it around, or different kinds of model oats - pirate ships, etc.
bath crayons, which are soap or something and you can write on yourself or the tub - the also have fingrpaint.http://www.amazon.com/Bath-Time-Crayons-TOY5951/dp/B000MT7ZP2
there are these whistles that you fill up with ater and they make different sounds when you add different amounts of water.http://www.amusica.co.uk/acatalog/childrens-musical-bath-toys.html

I found a GREAT kit on ebay that has those musical flutes, some other musical instruments for the bath, bath crayons AND paints. :yay:
I had totally forgotten about those funnel /spin toys! Why don't I see those anywhere anymore?
I think he would really love the shaving idea as well...afterall, he has tried his dads razor more than once :-P:ohno::yikes:

I buy the squirty animals and cut the bottom of them out with an exacto knife. My issue wasn't with the squirting so much as that *stuff* that grows in them (is it algae?).

i dn't know WHAT that stuff is, but does cutting the hole help? if so, how big a hole do you make?

There is usually a seam the size of a half dollar or something like that and I cut on that line. It does help, because all the water drains out, and I figure too that I can scrub them out if I really need to.
Of course, it might take away from the fun of it for Leif, if he really likes them as squirters. My kids never used them that way, so they were indifferent (and it was a better option than me throwing them away!).
