I have installed an add-on product, personal blogs, to our forums. You can read blog postings by clicking on the "Blogs" link in the top nav bar (up by User Control Panel, FAQ, Members List, etc.) I made one test blog post so there is something to see and poke around at.
To make a post in your own blog, just A) Be logged in under your own username, B) Click on the blog link, and C) Click on the Post to Your Blog link on the left hand navigation, under "Options."
This is purely a fun/optional feature for those who might like to avail themselves . . . enjoy!

That's very cool, Mandi! Did you notice there are ratings for them?

I'm afraid I haven't noticed that yet. Was there something about the ratings in particular I should look at . . . ?

Nothing in particular...for some reason I was thinking we'd decided not to use them for the forums but now that I think about it, maybe we didn't! LOL. I just remembered that we DID use them on the old forums to mark things for archive.

There is a system where you can rate users, and we did (briefly, and I'm not sure where LOL!!) discuss not using that. vB calls the system "reputation" points or something like that. But thread ratings are still in effect. (In General, the Introductions thread has a rating, you can see it live there.)
Can you show me where you see the blog ratings? I've been looking and I'm just not seeing it.

When you're viewing a particular post, to the right of the title there's a link for "Rate this Entry." And when you're looking at the main Blogs page, in the brown bar on the bottom box there are links for Recent Entried, Best Entries, and Best Blogs.
I don't think there is any harm in it if we keep using it in the loving, kind, YAAPS way, which is to give 5 stars to things that we think are really amazingly wonderful, and just NOT rating other things. I just had a sudden vision of a blog entry getting rated "1 star" and people's feelings getting hurt.

Oh, I see it now :spinning:! Thanks!
Yeah, I think it'll be fine there with the expectation that we will continue to just have 5 star ratings and nothing else - but it happens we can cross that bridge at that time.

Although those NT police we used to have running around certainly didn't carry much weight. LOL. :cop: :dunno: :cop:

I don't really see that as an issue. In the previous forums, a person could have rated someone's post *1 star*, to diss them, I suppose, but I don't recall it ever happening.
