Anyone able to point me to it? If it's not there, can we somehow get it back?

When you click the username to the left of a post (right above the user title), do you get a drop down menu then? That's where the pm menu option is.

Nope, I get a new page that's the profile of whoever you clicked on.

You're not clicking on the avatar picture (linking to the profile is how it works) - you're clicking on the text of the person's username, right? Just double checking.

When I do that, it looks like this:

What layout are you using?

Nope, I get a new page that's the profile of whoever you clicked on.LOL, Rach...I know there are at least three of us that want to look over your shoulder.

What happens when I click the avatar is exactly what you said--I go to the person's profile page.

So if I want to get to the PM button, what I have to do is actually click the username.

Try clicking the username.

You know, if I am not very careful, I do accidentally click on the first item that pops out from the menu, which is View Public Profile. It can seem very much as though that is the function of the click itself. I have to click and really hold my mouse still for sec while the menu pops out.

Yes, I am. However, I've discovered if I do it on myself (the author of this thread) I get the pull down menu. For the rest of the people in this thread I get the profile (which is also what I get if I click on the avatar). Off to see if this is true for other threads where I am not the original author.

Yes, it works for other threads, too. However if I click on the name of the author of the thread in a reply, it works the same as when I click on the author of any other reply.

I'll check into this as a bug in the software at the vBulletin forums. I'm afraid I'm out of my depth to fix it myself; I'll post back if I learn more.

Rach, what browser/system are you using?

Firefox--Windows XP

I am too- if I click on the pic it goes to the profile page. If I click on the name I get a little list of things to choose from- pm, view public profile, buddy list, view blog, etc.

If I change my display to Threaded (not hybrid, just threaded) and then click on a thread that Rach posted, if I click on her name I get the dropdown menu. If I click on a thread that anyone else posted and click on the name it just brings me to their profile page.

I can see it that way now too. I'm going to add that detail to the problem query I posted at the vBulletin support forums.

Thanks!!

Glad to know it's not just me!!! LOL!We're trying to implement new software at work and it seems I spend a lot of time trying to figure out if I can reproduce errors before I report them to the support guys... I know how frustrating it is when people tell you "it's not happening that way" and then don't fix it!

(Not that Mandi at any point implied she wasn't going to fix it, lol, but I'll tell you my support guys keep trying to tell me things are resolved when they SO aren't!)

That's so frustrating!! Hope it gets settled soon!

Update!

Guess what, Rachel? You found an Official Bug™!! After going back and forth a bit with vB support, I was able to replicate it on their install (which is an even more advanced - beta - version of vB) and so used their Bug Tracker to make an official record of it.

Okay, that doesn't really solve the problem, but I thought you'd like to know that it's definitely Not You :loveit:.
