Ok, since we are doing 'feature requests'.. here is my _DREAM_ requests. Things I know are work and effort and money and too much to ask, but I'd love to see, kind of like when I dream of winning the lottery and what I'd do with it, or like I had a magic wand and could make anything happen I wanted :wizard: (hey, my first wizard smilie!! ).

1. Recipe Box: A place to type in recipes, categorize, share.:chef::yum:

2. Google Maps: A place to share locations, vacations, photos (oh.. I already started that  ).

3. Links Directory: A place to share places on the web we find useful and helpful for parenting or just interesting.

4. Book/Movie recommends. A place to recommend and review books, buy them (from Amazon? revenue goes to site maintainence?)

Some of this you can kind of do in threads, but it'd be dreamy to have a place to search, view and permanent.

Like I said, I'm dreaming. this is the dreaming thread.:goodidea:

I think the Recipe Box is in the works and being figured out, so there's a start :chef: (I love this icon).

That's what the HFH forum is for. Do we really need a separate forum for that? We could certainly put a link to Amazon and become an Amazon associate or whatever it's called, where a small percentage goes to YAAPS.

I've always been one for FEWER forums, rather than more, and I think a lot of other members feel the same way. I was dragged kicking and screaming into setting up the illegal forum.

Trey, every time your avatar catches my eye, I do a double take because I think it's my husband.

Love these ideas, and what I'd like to do is have other "pages" here at YAAPS (along with an About Us page, maybe articles, etc.) so the info is there but is NOT more forums. Maybe linked at the top or bottom of the page.

I'll have to think more on this. Back to cleaning! :gross:

I'm actually not talking about forums. I'm talking about a dedicated book review automatic buy software. I saw one once, it was like a mini-amazon where members could add books, add reviews, search books, etc.

But like I said, i be dreamin'

In general, I agree...it just makes more places to have to read.

What Trey's talking about with the mini Amazon sort of thing does sound interesting, though! I don't know quite what he's talking about, though.

I used to have this script called "Amaz'n BookClub" that my family used (it's here, freeware: http://www.iconinteractivegroup.com/freeware/PERL/AmazinBookClub/ )

What it was was a place for family members to add books and reviews simply. Then (if I remember correctly) others could rate or add reviews. The program would automatically pull the image from amazon and if you clicked on it would take you to amazon and if the person bought the book it would credit the site the 5-15% of the price.

You could also search by category or keyword. It was a great little program.

Hey, if people wanted it, I'd set it up :)

Yup - check out the thread about the recipe forums :). I like the name Recipe Box for the forum, too.

I downloaded the script and will take a look at it, thanks! It looks a lot more sophisticated than an aborted attempt we made with a YAAPS Amazon account back at the site's inception.

This is just a template hack, and it's forthcoming :)!

This looks like a really interesting idea, Trey. Thanks for bringing it up.

That's good to know, Mandi. This would be a really cool thing to have when we get there and if it works easily.

This would be a really cool thing to have when we get there and if it works easily.I know, because (besides my book club) I seriously do get most of my book suggestions from you guys. If I bought all the books I buy new through YAAPS, (insert some "if I had a nickel for every time you said that" sort of thing).
