We're Back! And a short explanation...

Hello! I wanted to post an explanation for those who may not have found us on our back up email list.

On January 29th our webhost did a large server upgrade that went very badly. After some discussion and an emergency vote, the community chose to move to a new webhost.

Because of the nightmare that is known as DCF (our old forums) none of the administrators wanted to touch a new install of DCF with a ten foot pole. :-) Moving to a new webhost was very important and necessary, so it became necessary to upgrade our community to vBulletin.

There is a lot more work to be done and things to be decided and voted on. This will happen over the next few weeks. I think it will take approximately one month before we are completely done tweaking the forums and running community polls for big decisions.

In the meantime please re-register and get yourself acquainted with our new format. We will be posting soon outlining some of the cool features we will have to play with.

Thanks for your patience, it is greatly appreciated.

And a HUGE thank you to Storymama and Sadie for all of their hard work. What you are looking at wouldn't be here without their efforts today. Thanks ladies! :D

I'm sorry, Mary :( I know we were looking for you on the google group, but no one seemed to have a current email for you.

You can have this partial threaded (or maybe all the way, I use the hybrid mode) and it's easier on the eyes, IMO. Hopefully you'll get used to it. It's not that bad.

i believe the hosting company notified Debra and Anne (and Kerry?) that they were making changes but their move and changes went horribly wrong and we lost (afawk) all our data. There was a google group created early on (I found out about it on the unschooling list) and a vote was taken to move to a new host (it had been over a week with no contact from the hosting company) and new software. I'm pretty sure there is a post that references all this somewhere. I'll see if I can find it for you. I don't want to post the link to the google groups here as Yaaps is public and there are some posts there that should remain private (as the group was private) so I'll PM you the link to the google group and you can read the threads.
