A mom of a girl (around C's age) at our synagogue asked if C could get together with her daughter this summer and play, or go the amusement park or something. I said sure, but when we got in the car, I asked C if he liked this girl. (She's a little...feisty.)
He said, "Yeah, as a FRIEND."
I was like, WTF? He's 10! What else could I have meant? I was looking at this baby face and thinking, he's got years and years before girls will be anything other than friends. Right? Tell me I'm right!
Maybe this is just me finding this funny but it still makes me laugh. It made thing, "Oh, is there someone else he likes NOT as a friend?"

LOL, Mackenzie makes sure to make that distinction also. I think it's because he's aware that, while he still would rather look at a Lego than a pretty girl, the girls have different agendas. More than a couple of Asa's friends in his age range have a much-more-than-friendly interest in Mackenzie! There's one that Asa won't even invite over if he's here, because she'll just go and moon over him <sigh>. I never had a good-looking older brother, so I guess that's one thing I didn't have to go through.
C. probably realizes that girls think of him in a way that is not exactly JUST a friend, so he's being clear. In fact, I'm sure with those eyes and hair, more than a few girls think that way!!

That's so cute, I always look forward to C stories! A few girls have had crushes on Jake briefly which he found a little weird. Just today though I noticed that when he held hands with a cetain girl at church camp (for closing circle) his cheeks were a little pink! And he mentions her frequently. I haven't got up the nerve yet to ask how he feels about her. I mean, I remember having crushes on people when I was ten but I feel so strange that MY ten year old might have a crush...I'm not ready! Aaaaaand, I've hijaked your post, lol.

Uh-oh! C's firmly into the "tease the girls and get attention" stage. (For instance, at a recent gathering, he kept going up to various girls and saying "Cheesecake!" I have no idea what that meant but they found it, apparently, both annoying and hilarious at the same time.) But as soon as a girl gets flirty with him he is scared to death. It's a funny thing to watch, actually.
There was one incident this past school year where a female classmate threw a plastic container of pineapple chunks at him, and I just KNEW he deserved it.

That's so funny. Must be annoying for Asa. I guess because my girl is older, we don't have that so much here! Although now that I think about it, one or two of C's friends follow K around all moon-eyed because they think she's a rock star. LOL. Most of them just try to annoy her!
