My grandmother died last week. I decided at the last minute to got to the funeral-so I headed out last Wednesday night and drove halfway and then the other half in the morning. It was in Springfield MO it was very much funerally weather- wet and cold and flash flood watches. I'm so glad she is out of pain, but it was so weird b/c there were only 8 people there- me, Jonah, my mom, aunt, uncle, his wife, daughter, and granddaughter.
We headed back Thursday night hoping to make it back to Conway AR (apparently since I'd checked in after midnight I didn't have to check out till Friday at 11???????? never had that happen before.) It was the most harrowing drive ever!!!!! There is no place to stop in the mountains at night and there was a 5 foot visibility with rain & fog and lightning EVERYWHERE!
Right when we pulled into the parking lot at the hotel their tornado sirens started going off! I've never been so happy to be off the road. (Carla are you guys ok)
Well Friday morning as I was driving home a "thunderstorm" passed through Central Mississippi that ended up with tornados and straight line winds. No one expected it and there are trees down and power out in lots of places that are also hindered by the flooding river. I just got internet back. Apparently more storms are expected at the end of this week.
