I'm now on CD 52 and still no sign of my period. I took another negative pregnancy test last week. No symptoms of pregnancy. I am tired and have been starving hungry several hours after a good dinner, but that doesn't scream pregnancy to me.

I really want to know what is going on with my body! I may or may not have PCOS. There is some debate on whether to lump my type of cysts in to the same category as PCOS.

My doctor says to wait until I have missed two full cycles before he will see me.

This is such a total pain in the ass. I'm glad we aren't TTC right now or else I'd be ready to pull my hair out!

I'm the ST that posted several weeks ago about mid-cycle spotting and terrified of being pregnant.

I still haven't had a period. I've taken at least 6 pregnancy tests all of which have been negative, but I haven't taken one in about a week.

I decided if I hadn't started by today, I would call my GYN for an appt. I spoke with the nurse who said given my age, it's not completely unheard of for someone to go this long without a cycle. She said if I haven't had a period this month, then to call back. After I called, I was very pleased to see that I had a bit of blood when I wiped. I thought my period was starting. But it's more like spotting again. My periods don't start with spotting. It's usually more of the opening of the flood gates.

I had something similar with my cycle happen about 7 years ago and it ended up that I was pregnant but miscarried.

I am unsure on what to do or think now.

Am I having a late ovulation? Is this implantation spotting? Am I pregnant and something is wrong? Is there something physical like a cyst or fibroid preventing my uterus from shedding? Am I perimenopausal?

My husband is now at the point of being very okay with being pregnant again right now. I'm not quite there yet. We've been testing the waters with family to see how supportive they would be and only one person had anything negative to say.

:help:

{{{ST}}} I had something pretty similar happen, but it was that I had miscarried one baby and remained pregnant with a twin. For whatever reason, the pregnancy test I had taken was negative, but I don't remember how far along I was when I took it, or if it was before or after the miscarriage. I went to the doctor to ask how long after a m/c I could get pregnant again (we were TTC #2), frustrated that I wasn't pregnant, only to find out I was pregnant afterall. It was complicated, to say the least.

I wish you the best.

I did this once a long time ago... went to a Dr and had a uterine tissue biopsy. Not pregnant, no cancer, nothing - was sent home with an Rx for BCPs that I did not take. After reading TCOYF, I realized that it was a period of no ovulation for whatever reason and the spotting I'd get was "bleed through" spotting - or anovulatory spotting/bleeding.

I tend to have loooong cycles, but that one was very long - like 6 months long. The longest cycle I have recorded in my charts is 96 days and had some bleed through during that one as well. On average, though my cycles are 36 days or so.

I have loaned out my NFP books but your description sounds like it could be perimenopause. I remember that it might be like 10 cycles of peri..... and then starts the menopausal phases.

I know that my mil thought she was pregnant at age 50 because of long long cycles during her change.

If I remember peri....cycles can be long or short. Just really odd.
I think the spotting falls into the breakthrough bleeding category where the lining builds up so much (waiting for ovulation to happen) that spootting occurs.

Hmmm, I wish I had my books.

Mark and I taught NFP through the Couple to Couple League but it was years ago.

Sorry I can't help more.

Breakthrough. That's what I meant to say instead of bleed through.

You know I have been thinking about this some more.
Have you been doing things differently lately?
changing eating habits, exercise, unde more stress?

Because I do not remember how old you are. It totally doesn't have to be peri.... cycles.

From everything that we taught (THAT i CAN REMEMBER)
cycles can vary pretty easily and day to day changes make a huge difference on your cycle.

Now I can remember years worth of people on this website and AMU, saying that their cycles were clockwork regardless of circumstances.
In as much as I believe them, everything I have read says otherwise.
That cycles can vary quite easily; especially from stress, sleep changes, food and exercise.

Now I wonder about how as women's bodies age maybe these triggers have more of an affect than they might have at a younger age.

Anyways, just letting you know I have been thinking about you and this whole topic.

Take care
