Anabel was just sick a few weeks ago in Seattle, burning up, headache, sore throat... went away on its own. Last night OMG she was SO hot and I couldn't find the thermometer so I have no clue HOW hot, but her little body was on fire :( :( She completely bypassed the chills stage of fever and was just moaning. I did a cool sponge bath and tylenol/motrin every 2 hours and it never broke completely. She never really cooled all the way down or broke into a cold sweat or any of the signs fever is passing. This morning we were both exhausted and slept until about 9:30, woke up and felt her and she was warm but not as hot as last night. We go to the clinic and I am telling the nurse this and she takes her temp and looks at me, "she was much hotter last night?" and I said yes and she tells me her current temp was 104.5 It scares the SHIT out of me to imagine what it must have been last night. Her poor little heartrate was really fast too from the fever. They did a rapid strep test and it is positive, so we're doing antibiotics and the whole nine. I really hope this wipes it out- I HATE seeing her so sick, she's just so small... it breaks my heart :(

I just want her to get well!! It scares me that she would be really sick like this just 2 weeks apart, like why is her immune system not stronger right now??

Off to buy a new thermometer!!

I think it could be possible (and this is what I would be thinking, to assuage my guilt) that even though she FELT hotter last night, she wasn't actually hotter. Or maybe there was a problem with the thermometer at the clinic. Or she generated a lot of body heat just before having her temperature taken.

Or maybe her body puts out a lot of heat but her temperature isn't necessarily that high? I have 2 little furnaces (well, one isn't so little anymore) who are ALWAYS putting out heat but they don't have temperatures. Maybe something like that?
