That was the amount of the first bill that has rolled in for Leo's hospital stay. This was for the helicoptor transport down to the NICU in Phoenix (he had two helicoptor trips, so I expect to get the other bill next week).

We're going to keep a running tally of what this is going to cost, total. I'm guessing around $150,000. Thankfully, the most we'll have to pay is $5000.

Hugs, Kerry!!! I'm glad your insurance is good and $5K is your max out of pocket.

C's bills for 5 months in the NICU totally over $900K.
Frightening!! Our insurance was decent then so I think we ended up paying about $10K total. I can only imagine what it would be like now. Bleah.

Wow! That's a lot of money for a helicopter ride, but he's worth every penny and much, much more. If you're like us you pay insurance premiums out the wazoo, but times like this make us realize it's worth the money we pay.

The grandbaby has a heart murmur, they found two holes in her heart. She had an EKG last week, today she had chest x-rays and Monday she goes back to the cardiologist. They expect both holes to close within a couple of months, but I guess they need to watch things in the mean time. Fortunately, they applied for and qualified for insurance for low-income.

A surprise like that, something that makes your heart go crazy just because of worry--and then having to worry about the whole rest of your life's financial security on top of it? That's just awful.

I'm so glad you have insurance.
