I think a chat was discussed at some point, but it's not something we have through YAAPS at this time.

It was asked about during the very busy setup of this board. This webhost (like most community webhosts, and we certainly can't afford dedicated hosting) disallows chat servers to be installed on the account. Anyone who wants to take on the project (I cannot commit to anything between now and graduation, sorry) is welcome to research the available freebie webchats out there, and get us an account . . . I'd be happy to make a permanent link in the footer, or wherever.

Another option is to just make a thread sharing IM contact info (or make sure you have it in your profile) and then just subsequently post and say, "whose online and would like to chat?" and hookup that way. AIM in particular allows you to invite mulitple people to a "room." (And perhaps other IM protocols too, I've just never tried them - AIM is pretty easy and reliable, I found.)
