between running and jogging?
And Robin, those shoes are really strange looking, like a weird mould thing on your feet :)

for me, it's just that I don't consider myself a "runner" yet LOL. I mean, I am technically running I guess, I'm not walking - but I do spurts of run and spurts of fast walk and back to a medium ish pace that to me, is jogging.
I just think of running as a subculture that I am not yet part of. Around here, "runners" have the high tech gear and they take their trails very seriously - no lollygagging, and you better move the hell out of their way if you're hogging the trail when they are coming by - whereas joggers and walkers might be in groups, wearing jammie pants and keds... LOL...
OK so I am totally oversimplifying but honestly that's just how I have it in my head and it might not be how it is anywhere else but in my mind. :)

What Jill said, LOL! But also saying jog can mean a slow run. If you say "I'm going out jogging", then I think it's more like Jill said... but if a runner says "I slowed down to a jog" then that means a slow paced run. I personally think of it (in horsespeak, LOL) as a trot vs a gallop or run.
Wiki's take on it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jogging I like their quote: Dr. George Sheehan, a running expert, is quoted to have said "the difference between a jogger and a runner is an entry blank".
Then you have power walking. This is what I (try) to do. In jogging and running, you kind of leave the ground. Power walking is more smooth and easier on your knees.

I think of jogging as a slow run. For me, I feel like I'm "jogging" when I'm in an aerobic zone and just moving easily, and feel like I'm "running" when I put more effort into it and bring my heartrate up closer to my anaerobic threshold.

I am calling myself a jogger until I graduate to runnerdom and get a pair of those rubbery feet :)

BTW Jill, WTH is lollygagging? Whatever it is, it has a perverse ring to it.

LOL, the rubber feet thingies are very strange, even for runners around here. I always get the funniest looks and questions when I wear them!

LOL! It's like dilly dallying only it's more fun. :jester:

Still sounds rude. I suppose you mean dawdling, trundling, shilly-shallying or tarrying, in the Queen's English :)
