I bet I win the prize for the oldest :)

I leave my home, run up past the floodlit cathedral, through the Roman walls, past the Roman ruins, past the Gaudí tower, down the Via Augusta (named after the Roman emperor), turn right, run to the old Roman fort and then down past the ampitheatre along the beach.

What's your route at the moment?

(I don't think I can compete with that ...)

right now I've moved to the track at the YMCA, because I was getting bored on the treadmill. When the weather cooperates, I'll be running through my neighborhood (houses, houses, houses and a few playgrounds) after my girls on their bikes.

ever run on a track. It seems such an American high school movie thing :)

Don't you get dizzy, running around in circles? :)

no LOL. It's on the upper level of the building (indoor), above the gyms, so I watch spinning classes, volleyball and basketball games below while I'm running.

I run either up the main road near my house, and then back, or take another route through a neighborhood. Not very exciting, although a couple of houses were painted over the winter and look very nice.

I don't run. But when I walk, I walk here:

http://www.okc.gov/trails/hefner.html

I can see the area from my house, but I have to drive to it because there are no sidewalks/bike paths from my house to their paths. Some lucky residents in this area just got a brand new bike path in their neighborhoods leading to this lake and now this lake and another city lake are connected by a huge bike trail. I wish we lived closer to those new bike trails - we'd be all over the city if we did!

Here are some pics I've taken while on walks there:

When I run inside it's worse (LOL the parking lot of a plaza or the TV is what I see.

Here's some pictures I took last year of my route. See BORING! Well except for the horse and the turkeys, geese, duck and chickens.
This hill is what I go up t my halfway-ish point. THAT's a challenge.

Our college rec center was like that. I could also watch people climbing a big indoor rock climbing wall while I ran. That was the only time in my life that I liked running -- it was easy on my knees, the weather was right (LOL), but it wasn't as boring as a treadmill.

I have recently begun running, or let's just say jogging LOL...I go along the towpath trail that follows the river, and there is a ton of scenery. I pass marshes, covered bridges, corn fields (well they will be in summer lol), old locks, historic homes and barns (nothing like yours of course LOL - this is OH USA we're talking about LOL), and Indian burial mounds. Oh and a cemetary or two.
Another trail I take is in the woods, up and down hills, around bends, across the creeks and river...
Both are beautiful and so NOT boring.

Tonight though, I did the treadmill at the gym, in the dark watching this fabulous movie on their movie theater sized screen. Heaven, seriously. (and I wish I caught the name of the movie - it was so freaking INSPIRING!)

Isnt' that fun to do? I forgot to mention it in my other post but yes I also go to our "family" gym where they have a track like that, it's fun because I love to people watch and there is always something going on worth watching.

When we had our membership, the Y I went to had a track like that. I did get dizzy, though, going round and round in circles passing the same people on the track and looking over people playing basketball from this angle, then that angle and then this angle again... it became monotonous.

I miss the Y, though, even if I didn't enjoy the track, I loved everything else!

Now, I dream of a treadmill or elliptical parked in front of a TV on rainy days when I don't want to go to the trails... Someday...

I've got a bunch of routes I use. Let's see, I think I even have photos of some of them from last year's 365 Self-portraits project. Starting off in our cul-de-sac:
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2008/1712143156_a21569dbdc_m.jpg Sometimes I run on the paths through the woods:
http://farm1.static.flickr.com/203/446622726_073569fdf0_m.jpg One path goes up these stairs:

http://farm1.static.flickr.com/149/428542100_738ef24fe0.jpg

Sometimes I run in local races:

My favorite places are the local bark running trails:

I love the city overlook! Hey, what are those shoes(?) you are wearing that look like rubber feet?

Those are my Vibram Five Fingers barefoot running shoes! I can't run on concrete in them, they've got no padding. But they're great for trails, and the idea is to help you run more naturally (like those great Kenyan barefoot runners). I love 'em!

yeah - I wouldn't want to do it every day (wouldn't want to do my neighborhood or the treadmill every day, either LOL). It's nice for adding a little variety.

Sounds amazing! I'd love to see all that. Mine is a walking route, not running. My knees and feet can take jogging unfortunately. I go down the hill, past a couple streams, past a small pond, a few neighbors homes set on several acre lots and woods in between so lots of trees to a bridge over a river past large areas of just trees, another bridge over the river, and then pasture land, an area where there are trails and woods, woods, woods and where you can't hear any sounds of humans almost ever, past a few older historical homes of people who have lovely gardens, and then to a huge old farmhouse that is set on probably hundreds of acres that includes the most beautiful tree next to a small pond. It is breathtaking to see.

Sometimes I go the other way past horses and more hills instead or through the woods to the river instead. I love that I can go for walks right from my house rather than haviing to drive somewhere to do it.
