How to handle this re:ex

Saturday the STBX (spearated) picked up child for visit. A few hours later I ran errands in my truck which is quite unique and identifiable to those who know me. A friend spotted me and called on cell to comment on my interesting new bumper sticker. Pulled over - large purple and yellow magnetic bumber sticker on white truck stating, "Forget the ring. I want ALIMONY." Um, I didn't put that there.

Funny?

Truck was in driveway for few hours before I left, so all neighbours (many) had chance to see. Also I did many errands in my smallish town on busy Saturday and as I said the vehicle has VERY identifing marks (plates, etc.) to show it is mine.

Hmmm.... rude but well, kind of funny. The fact it's magnetic is what keeps it out of the vandalism catagory and the fact it doesn't say anything nasty about you or anything, more pokes on the exwife stereotype, it doesn't have that "evil" feel to me. I'd call it a prank I guess and if you REALLY wanna get even, I'd leave it on the truck :p :D . Okay not really, for the kids sake, but it would be funny to just nod and say"Yup." to shut down his joke.

Those would be funny! I'd probably just do something boring like put the alimony sticker/magnet on HIS vehicle and see how long it takes for him to notice.

DH saw someone with the ED sticker you linked to. He thought the guy was proud of his condition or wanted to make others aware, LOL!

Well, I'd think it would depend on the STBX as to whether it was meant as just a prank or not. I think only ST can answer that given whatever their current situation is.

I'd be *tempted* to do what kellydog suggested, but I wouldn't do it. The worst I might do is put it on his vehicle the next chance you get.

Honestly, though, I'd steam about it a bit and drop it. I don't see what the good of doing anything about it will do. Best, IMO, to not let him know it bothers you at all.

ex is angry and was not meant as joke i am mad cuz neighbours on street know acrimony involved (he told) and they may think i put sticker in all seriousness. i feel violated. he is not paying any alimony and legally should be - he left with no prior arrangement to , I knew it was coming but not given heads up as to when by him. I am a sahm AND ft student.

It's definately one of the downsides to small town life (at least for me).

I think you can send the message that *you* didn't put it there by removing it ASAP (which I assume you did) and if anyone says anything to you - which I doubt they will - I would just look at them and shrug or have a stock answer (funny or not) prepared.

If it were me, I'd try to at least publically have a funny response - it will deflect a lot of back end talking.
