I can't think of any other non-permanant, methods (besides withdrawal). If there's something else, I'm all ears too!

Non-permanent methods would include the sponge, diaphragm, female condom, IUD (Paraguard, not Mirena).
Permanent methods would include Essure and tubal ligation.

I think my subject line got cut off? Those were the one I listed as non-permanent (except the female condom-forgot about that).

Ah, I didn't even look at your subject title. Using linear form, I'm not used to reading titles except the OP. Sorry!

Can you explain the difference between Paraguard and Minera? Thanks. :)

Paragard (spelled it wrong the first time, sorry) is a copper IUD that does not contain any hormones. Mirena contains progesterone that acts locally as another mechanism to prevent pregnancy.

Mirena has small amounts of progesterone, so it's not non-hormonal. It's good for 5 years, whereas Paraguard lasts 10 years. The benefits of Mirena are that for most people, their periods get very light (or stop altogether).

Essure is non-surgical sterilization where they implant something into the fallopian tubes to cause scarring, which over time completely blocks the tubes. It's a several-month process, but precludes the need for surgery and general anesthesia.

Vaginal Contraceptive Film?
This is what we've used for the past five years. :yay: They don't recommend this w/o a barrier, but we use it exclusively.

Would you be uninterested in surgical sterilization? (I expect so, since you didn't mention it.)
If you are interested, I will just share that I really, really love my tubal. Really. No hormones, natural cycles, no thought of BC ever crosses my mind, and I never have the "Uh oh, could I be . . . . ?" moment. It also removes that fantasy that it would ever be the right thing for me to have another baby, which is the situation I am in medically.

and ditto to THAT, except "with regard to the fact that I have 5 children and that is quite enough tyvm." I don't regret my tubal for one second.
