There were 9 votes for both the 5 and 7 day options. There was 1 vote for each, 1, 2, and 6 days. There were 6 votes for 3 days. To me, it seems very logical and reasonable that more people prefer the polls be 5 days or less(18 of the votes) compared to more than 5 days (10 of the votes). So, riddle me this....is it enough to note that the majority of the voters opted for 5 days or less and call that the winner or do we really need a run-off poll between 5 and 7 days?
I did not open this as a brainstorming thread, as we have already done that, but more of a 'technical difficulty' thread. Inevitably, we would at some point end up with a poll that ends in a tie. Of course, it would be this one. :razzberry: How we proceed with that (run-off poll or collective votes supporting either of the tied options) may be subject to the available data, the compatibility and similarity of other poll options, and the ability to reasonably combine the other options to break the tie. In this case it seems easy enough- 5 days and under, and over 5 days. Are there objections to that logic and process?
As I said, to me, it seems crystal clear that the majority of the voters prefer 5 days or under in lieu of over 5 days, but recognize that others may potentially see this differently.

And it is crystal clear to me that there was a definite tie. :) I think we should have a run-off poll since there was no clear winner and in the meanwhile take a conservative stance and keep polls open for 7 days until a winner is declared.
(Oh, and in the brainstorming thread, I was speaking to the brainstorming poll - not any other poll.)

Personally, I think yes, the poll is pretty clear that the slim majority of people prefer 5 or less. I will also say that watching the naming poll, which had a fair number of votes (41), the pattern of voting was that 5 days was more than ample as long as the weekend was encompassed in those 5 days. We got a lot of votes on Thursday, some on Friday, another big set on Saturday, almost none on Sunday and none (or maybe 1) on Monday.

I agree that it is very clear that there is a tie between the 5 and 7 day options. Where we differ is that I also think it is clear(based on the poll results) that the voters largely preffered 5 days or less(keeping polls open for 1-3 days received 9 total votes as well) compared to 7. But, as I feared, not everyone sees things the way that I do. :loveit: Boy, oh boy, that would make things easy. lol I guess I should open that poll then, huh.

I hate to say it, because I know you are sick of the subject, but in my opinion there should be a run-off poll between 5 days and 7 days.
ETA: in my opinon, both of those choices are on the long side.

I guess I didn't see it as a slim majority at 64% preffering 5 or less compared to 36% preferring more than 5, which is why it seemed obvious to me, but I can see how others might see ti differently and will open the poll. Yep, I agree with your pattern observation. The poll in question had remained the same for 2 days and it was only open for 5 days.

I was using "slim" euphemistically :-P I agree with you.
