For those of you who have renovated or replaced your toilets, what did you choose and why?

We did a few years ago and we got a toilet that came recommended by Fine Homebuilding magazine - I can't remember the brand/type, but it was a pretty good deal and had excellent "flush power". You could try to google their recommendations... they may have updated them by now.

The correct color and the bowl had to be round.. not oblong. The door opens into the bathroom, so the round bowl was important, oblong would get in the way...

We also looked for the whole "flush power"... but seriously it just came down to bowl shape for us.

Sorry- this was not useful at all! LOL

When our house was built in 1998 low flow toilets were required. But the low flow toilets were so crappy(lol) that we would constantly clog them up with normal bowel movements and a normal amount of tp. So when we dedcided to replace them out biggest cncern was to have the "new" low flow toilets that would actually flush everything down.

We went to HD and asked what the best ones were and just bought them. They aren't he most expensive or the cheapest. just kind of middle of the road white, round seated toilets.

We have Kohler Portrait Toilet.

I think it's purty. We've had it 10 years, no problems. We also have the matching pedestal sink

How about a dual-flush toilet? They are standard here (can't get single flush) and work very well. Caroma makes one that's available in the US.
