So, I'm eating what I consider to be an ideal diet. Organic veggies and fruits, controlled amounts of complex carbs (whole wheat, steel cut oats, brown rice, fish once a week or so, and plenty of non-meat protein (soy milk, tofu, eggs, cheeses). Lots of water, a few glases of wine a week, green tea. No caffiene, diet sodas, or preservatives. (Except for an occaisional trip to the froyo place for some no sugar added vanilla with blueberries.) I am finally feeling wonderful and energized, and am working out about 4-5 nights a week. I'm losing weight, sleeping well, and all is good. However, I never poop! And when I do, it seems kind of constipated-ey. I don't feel bloated or anything, but I just can't imagine that with all the fiber, about 25 grams a day, I' m not pooping more. It's possible that with eating so clean that I am just not making much waste, but I dunno.... Anyone wanna chime in with some input on my output?

I'm not sure why it seems to work that way but when dh was eating very healthy he went from "poop after every meal" to "poop once a day or so". I would think your body is using more of the healthy food you're currently eating, where before your body wasn't able to. Interesting crap...or lack of, lol.

I noticed when I tracked my fiber intake and it went really high (which it was VERY low so the high was actually into the normal range) I was constipated/icky for a couple WEEKS before it leveled out to nice healthy movements. If you know you're getting enough fiber and it goes on for more than a couple weeks, I would look into it further.

Are you drinking enough water?
Oh yeah! About 3 32 oz bottles a day, plus tea!

Then I wouldn't worry about it unless it becomes painful in some way. And hey, good for you being all healthy like. :)

Yes, definitely best topic of the day! LOL
Frankly, I think what you are describing is the way it's _supposed to be_! I had the same thing 18 months ago when I started eating less, switched to completely whole grains, lots of fruits and vegetables, beans and nuts, a little lean meat, etc. My diet became, like yours, what I consider pretty near optimal.
And my bowel movements (someday I'm going to regret posting this on a public forum... if I run for senator or something LOL) became just like yours. In fact, so regular I know exactly what time to expect it every day.. and just once a day and it's just like yours.
I mentioned this to my doctor last year. I wasn't particularly concerned, but it was weird for me (once a day? etc). He said, and these are his exact words "That is exactly the bowel movements we are looking for" I nearly 'sh*& my pants' (you know.. so to speak LOL). I never knew doctors were looking for bowel movements.
Nutrient dense foods (read: fruits, whole grains, vegetables, etc) produce much less waste and fiber helps you become much much more regular.
So, you're perfect :D LOL

Have you ever watched that diet transformation show on BBC? I can't remember what it is called, but part of the initial evaluation is, in fact, an examination of the person's poop. Fascinating stuff. (they don't actually show it, but the host describes it, says what's wrong with it, and explains how it is supposed to be. Then they go on a macrobiotic type diet, and they talk about the difference it makes, in, among other things, their poop. LOL.
I'd watch the dairy/bananas, but I don't think what you're describing is a problem at all unless it starts hurting.
