Thursday PM or Friday AM they removed the nasal cannula and Leo was breathing very well on his own and nursing! :yay::yay: On Saturday Leo got to take a helicopter ride back to the hospital in which he was born so his body could get used to the higher elevation (5500 ft). Kerry, Mac and kids drove back.
He has been nursing well (for short periods at a time) and Kerry has been pumping. It's great that she can actually stay at the hospital with him. One of the perks for Kerry working in L&D there!
Leo's body has been working very hard trying to breathe, maintain his body temp outside an incubator and feed. He has lost a couple ounces since leaving the Phx hospital on Saturday weighing 6# 4 ozs. Kerry and Mac hope to be able to bring him home either tomorrow or the next day, provided he begins to gain weight. In order to reserve his energy, he is back on the nasal cannula and will be for a week or two even after he is released.
Camille and Nick got to meet their new baby brother yesterday  According to Kerry, Camille is very, very much in love with him.
So, all in all, things are well. C'mon, Leo.....gain weight so you can go home!

Thank you for the update, Shannon. I've been thinking about them. I'm glad to hear that they're that much closer to home, and in a familiar setting. Hoping Leo gets to go all the way home very soon.

I am sure that everyone is anxious to have him at home, though, so I am sending plump vibes out to Leo!
