View Full Version : September goals!

It's been awhile since I've done any goals, and heh, the extra 5 pounds since I stopped doing them really shows. So today I went to hot yoga, which I haven't done in about 6 weeks, and I was mostly vegetarian today. Therefore I'm feeling kind of energized and ready to get serious, now that the weather is a little cooler and yoga doesn't seem so torturous compared to, say, happy hour.
So here are my September goals:
Do at least 30 min of interval aerobics every day
Do yoga at least twice a week
No alcohol this month
Try to have at least 4 meatless days a week.
Avoid any really bad binge days (those days where I eat so much my stomach hurts)
Drink at least 8 glasses of water (or herbal tea) a day
Anyone else want to set some September goals along with me?

1) continue to make 4 miles my base run. Run 3 times a week.
1a) get new running shoes. I'm at my limit with these old Adidas.
2) re-start Ashtanga. End the month doing 3 days week of 1/2 primary. You'll get there somehow.
3) find a different way of celebrating the "hitting 70 kilo mark" other than eating crap. :)
4) loose 5 kilos. :) Well, at least start...

I'm going to make mine short and simple (since I just started a new job and it's great but I get home a little later than I was before so during this transition I really want to be here for the kids):
1. workout every other day (went jogging last night, sore!, so didn't do anything today).
2. stick with my WW plan
3. I'd like to lose about 6 lbs this month
I haven't lost anything most of the summer, just sort of maintained. I want to get back into weight loss mode.

Yes!
I will work out every day after work, because once school starts it will actually be scheduled into my day.
I will eat the way I know I need to - avoiding sugar, simple carbs. I don't know WHT it is about eating "like everyone else" but I ate pretty darn pristine the last two weeks, and then "normal" for the last few days (I had some dessert every day, some simple carbs, too) and I was a BASKETCASE yesterday. A basketcase with near-debilitating abdominal cramps last night. OMG. Junk food hates me LOL.

Ohh good one!
1) Drink my water!
2) keep on track with my couch to 5K
3) Ride my bike more often, say.... three times a week.
4) Get back into my yoga routine on the non-running days
5) Add some free weights for my arms. Yick.

Oh yeah...I need September goals!
I am heading to WW this morning (I've missed 2wks of meetings! :bag:) to see what the total damage of the prednisone and the me.on.pred.feeling.sorry.for.myself.and.eating.eve rything.in.sight damage is.
Seriously, I'm thinking that I must be 10-15lbs above goal at this point. Yup, I think I gained that much this summer! OMG.
I'm going to come back to this as I need to think more about how I can get back on track starting NOW. (plus, I need to jump in the shower and get out of here with the kids!)

even with back to school craziness drawing me towards quick fixes and too much bread.
To keep doing fun exercise (I might need a wetsuit - I've discovered body surfing!!!)
Ummm ... to not go get fish and chips after swimming in the ocean (we do this EVERY TIME!) I think the COLD makes my body want BLUBBER!

Oh YEAH, I need my ass kicked into gear.
Um, 14lbs up since starting the prednisone. omg.:help:
Oh, how I did wallow in the fact that I was all puffy and gaining...wallow in excess food all summer long. *sigh*

May I join? When I was on vacation week before last (OR coast) I hit my upper limit of what I can tolerate weight-wise.
I'm not focusing on the weight loss for now; rather, while I've got a few weeks free before I go back to school I'm trying to establish some good new habits to carry with me once school starts. For now those are:
1. Work out at the Y 3 times a week (treadmill/weights). I've been pretty good this week, and Matt got himself certified to use the equipment so he works out right along with me. It's something I wanted for him since he's not doing any team sports this fall.
2. Get the dog out for a nice long walk the days I don't go to the Y. If the weather's bad I'll do some Pilates at home (there are some good, short sessions available On Demand).
3. Drink more water.
4. Eat regularly. That's my BAD thing. I don't eat unhealthily, but I eat breakfast late--10:30-11, then I skip lunch, then I'm starving at dinner and eat too much.
5. Take my supplements--my Vitamin D, gingko and glucosamine.

.
Maia took the Juniour Fitness Club thing too, so that she can work out with us as well.
It was a whole year ago though, so I'm thinking that I'll sign her up again this year. (although last year it was a 12wk course and it looks like this year it's only 6wks in the new programme guide)
Has he worked out with you yet? How did it turn out?

Okay, I'm going to start small for September's getting back on track effort.
For the next two weeks:
-get some kind of activity or exercise every single day even if it's only half an hour of weights in the basement and a walk with the kids.
-drink 8 glasses of water or cups of non-caffeinated tea every day.
-track my food intake, even if I eat too much.
-no food after 9pm. (this one is next too impossible and will take a lot of effort on my part. I might even make this one every 2nd night to start)

I am actually going to adapt your goals word for word. Sounds exactly like what I need. I will also keep a detailed food journal.

It worked out okay. Of course he want to overdo...too fast, too steep on the treadmill, too heavy with the weights. But he's working it out. He's managed to stay on the treadmill next to me for my whole time. Then, there's only a select subset of weights in a separate room that he's allowed to do, so we do those together. When I go out to the big room he does the rowing machine while I finish up weights and then we do some toning stuff with the big balls and the medicine balls.

I'm going to join in too, maybe if I write this stuff down it will happen.
Go to the gym every Monday after work. Also every other Tuesday, when I don't have my carpool girl to take home.
Take the dog on 1/2 hour walk after work at least 3 days a week.
Eat proper portions.
Make sure the dumbbells are by the TV so when I watch movies I do my arms workout. (we watch movies almost every day!)
And I think that's a good start. If this actually happens this month, I'll add more!
